Routine well child check-ups are recommended at regular intervals. During these visits our doctors and nurses perform physical exams, assess growth and development, and advise on nutrition for your child. This is an excellent time for the parent to discuss concerns or ask questions about the child. Immunizations (see below) are usually given at the time of the well child exam in order to prevent some of the most dangerous and highly contagious illnesses.
WELL CHILD/PREVENTIVE HEALTH MAINTAINENCE
Well child visits are as follows: 2 weeks of age
2 months of age
4 months of age
6 months of age
12 months of age
15 months of age
18 months of age
24 months of age
Yearly ages 3 and up
These visits include history, physical and developmental exam, and immunizations as required.
The Children`s Clinic Of Oxford, P.A. follows the immunization schedule as recommended by the State of MS and Center for Disease Control. The following is the schedule of immunization administered:
Birth – Hepatitis B
2 weeks of age - Hepatitis B (if not given in newborn nursery)
2 months of age – Pediarix (Dtap, IPV, Hep B), HIB, PCV
4 months of age - Pediarix, HIB, PCV
6 months of age – Pediarix, PCV
12 months of age – Trihibit (Dtap, HIB), MMR Varicella, PCV
5 years of age – MMR, IPV, Dtap, Varicella if not previously given
Td – between ages 10 to 13 years
Because of the importance of childhood immunizations in the prevention and eradication of disease, parents of children seen at the Children`s Clinic Of Oxford, P.A. receive reminders of well child appointments by the following methods:
Postcards are sent noting date and time of appointment.
Parents are reminded of appointment on the day prior to that date by phone.
Postcards are sent if an appointment is missed encouraging the parent to reschedule.
The Children`s Clinic Of Oxford, P.A. is currently developing an immunization tracking system in order to best located children whose immunizations are not up to date.
